Default JRSC w/ aftermarket flywheel question

I am looking to upgrade my clutch/flywheel combo in the near future but I am not sure on if i should get a light flywheel. The powerband with the jackson starts so low so im thinking I shouldnt get one that is too light. I was lookin at an ITR flywheel because it is a few pounds lighter then the GSR, still not too light. Any Input on weight/and or manufactures would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have run both light and stock flywheels. I have found that the light flywheels makes it super revy , but it also makes the motor rev down quick too. Most of the time it makes it very jerky when driving slow as there is a drag on the motor for the blower plus the lighter flywheel.
I have found the Type R flywheel works pretty much the best , That's what I run and it works pretty good.

Yeah, that is what I anticipated so I guess I am just planning on going with the ITR. Thanks

IMO, i don't think lightened flywheels do much for power and i'd rather spend that $$ elsewhere. HTH.

I have the JRSC with an Intercooler I built, It is intergrated into the manifold and is Liquid to air. They will be available in the future when we finish the manufacturing process.
Thanks, John.

I hate to sway your thoughts on this, but I went with a Clutch masters 9lb FW, and I absolutely love it. The heel-toe shifts are brisk, and the engine revs like a streetbike. As far as autoX and street are concerned, the FW is a great mod. For the drags, it's a bit tough to launch since the FW allows the engine to rev much quicker.

I ran an ITR FW before I bought the CM unit, and it was too close to stock for my liking. Take it down to around 12lbs, and you'll enjoy it a lot more.

basically stock 2K JRSC GSR
8psi with the JR boost upgrade kit
kama 4-1 header, thermal catback with stock cat, aem hai
jdmhondaparts cam gears
aem fuel rai, bnm FPR
no hondata or cartech

thinking about 10lbs, injectors, and hondata this summer.
do you have any experiecne with the crv pulley? i have heard some bad things about them.

it made 202fwhp in hot weather in Aug and made 222fwhp in cold weather about 2 weeks ago. cold weather ownz

what is your set up?

I wouldnt go with the CRV pulley, it isnt meant to spin as fast as the GSR makes it. The bearings will wear out prematurely.

But for my set up i have

95 GSR w/ JRSC 8lb pulley
Kami, Carsound, & Apex N1
Port and Polishhead w/ Portflow valvetrain
Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
Aem cold air that im gettin ready to swap for a short ram

I just rebuilt it with JE 9:8:1's, and Crower Rods, all arp studs and bolts

Hondata will be on after the 1000 mile break in with some dyno tuning

This spring id like to put a 20-30 shot on it and/or the Endyn Stepper Pulley to make 10.5-11psi

This will be my first time on the dyno so im hoping for at least 240 or so running 8lbs.

Im ordering mine from http://www.theoldone.com that is where all the Endyn stuff comes from. It isnt much at all I believe its like 170-180, and yes mos def. id recommend that over the CRV pulley. Good Luck.

Edit: How do you like the ITR fw? what were the main differences that you noticed? does it pull harder?

Do the flywheel, they pretty much cancel each other out, the blower adds rotating mass and the flywheel takes it away. I have always had good luck with the flywheels on the Jackson's.

I have a ITR flywheel....will it be better if I go with a lighter flywheel, Like Clutch Masters or stay with the ITR?

Because of the powerband the Jackson has, that thing will rev SO SO quick, perhaps too quick.

I had lightweight flywheels in both my SC'd CRX and SC'd Del Sol and I feel that they were two of the better mods I did to the car. The cars both revved out alot faster. Just make sure you get a chromolly flywheel (Exedy, JUN, Zex, etc), not aluminum. Brian
