Default motorcycle battery for race car?

Can I use a motorcycle battery to run my race car?

I just need to have some sort of light weight battery in there...I don't mind giving it a boost if thats what it takes.

When I look at the battery specs what do I need to look for?
as in amp hrs? or cca

Will this battery do the job?

Go get yourself an OEM or Westco battery for a 90-97 Mazda Miata. There is no lighter car battery made and it will last .The m/c batt or lawn tractor (!) won't last

Don't know about Canada's sanctioning bodies, but many classes here in the US of A require the stock battery or one of the same size & weight.

I've had no problem using garden tractor batteries in my Civic. They last at least a season, sometimes two or three, depending on if I remember to take it out of the box and keep it in the basement, instead of letting it go dead and freezing solid in the garage.

Best of all is the price: 19.99 at Costco or Wally World.

So some of these batteries(like the one I posted above) have different amp ratings...does this matter or is the only important thing is that they are 12v ?

I found specs on the westco battery for the miata but it says it is 25lbs!! thats way too much.

25lbs is probably half the weight of the stock battery.

Pegasus auto also sells a lightweight (14 lbs?) battery that looks identical to the T1-Racing battery sold by IPS and R&D.

having used to own a Miata with a Westco battery, I can tell that they definitely are not light. Basically just like a stock battery but sealed since the Miata has the battery in the trunk stock.

I use a garden tractor battery in my 240sx. Seems to work fine. Its a Champion NASCAR edition battery if that matters.
