Default engine swap Q:

I think I would like to swap an engine into my 01 EX.
Heres some of my options:

B16A - $2900
B18C [SiR-G] - $3700
B16B [civic type-r] - $3850
B18C [JDM ITR] - $5500
K20A [DC5/RSX-R] - $6500

Whats the best engine for the money? Which engine mods the best?

since you have a 7th gen civic you're going to have to get a K20A swap, it's going to be more cheaper and more reliable down the road.

Thats the only option? So any K20A engine will work right? If i wanted a RSX-S RSX-R it would work too right? I think the base 160 hp RSX is a little underpowered for how much it would cost...

the k20 is a rsx motor and it will cost you about 10000 dollars, you could sell your car and buy a type r or rsx type s for the same amount you will spend.

the 01 EX you have uses a d series engine just like the older civics.. so a b series swap will not be to difficult.. so good luck and a k series would be much more difficult for that Civic.. now the Civic Si's use a k series motor

I live in california, so I don't think I could get away with using a JDM engine. If I use a US version, like an integra type-r engine, would that be alright? I'd pass visual smog right? Does the ITR engine have a lot of potential? 01+ EX civics don't have as much as an aftermarket as I'd like...

the 01 EX motor spins the opposite way as the other d-series. get rid of your car.

$5800 for a complete swap from HMotorsOnline.
Will it fit a 2001 Ex? I have no idea.
