best year for CRX?
Looking for your opinions. I'm considering buying a CRX but before I do I thought I'd tap into your experience and knowledge. Considering inherient problems, Body style, Reliability, Ease of obtaining and installing after-market mods., etc... What do you think is the best year for CRX? Thanks for your responce in advance.

If you come to Canada... NONE of the CRX's have those crappy mounted door seatbelts. I'd like to vote for the 88 CRX Si... lightest, best rear suspension.

Any year but make sure it is an HF = lighter
(that is if your going to swap it.) SI are faster also heavier, (90-91 SI are the heaviest due to rear disc breaks and sunroofs which is on all SI's have), then HF but not as much trouble swaping in new motors. HF has has crappy motor but very good mileage. HF also have a different axle making you to upgrade your hubs when doing a swap (either way you'll want better breaking power.) Honda's are known for good mileage and reliablity, Common stuff that is wrong with the crx is rust on the quarter panel. Look for one that is clean or if you got money coming out of everywhere then any crx with a clean title. Leaking hatches and some other minor stuff. Oh yeah did I say RUST too.

go to the garage and look for differences in 2nd gen CRX's

Depends on what you want..
If you want comfy and your not worried about weight and your a more show guy then go.. get a 90-91 SI..
If your more go thne your only choise is a 88 hf... its lighter, but not as comfy, as fast, out of the box...

88...........88.........88...........88
Si or HF
The lightest of the 2nd gens, no gay door seatbelts, + passive rear steering rear LCA's(ITR style)
most def the 1988 is the best year.
unless you want those all important rear discs.

Unless I go to Canada in a 90 CRX, it will still have them, lol....

I loved my 88 SI (but thats cause it was mad skills yellow!)... it wasnt as comfy as my 90 SI. If i didnt total the 88 i would have a rear disc swap along with a motor... i think thats the best bet... an 88 with a motor and brake swap!
edit: its hard to find a CRX without rear quarter panel rust (my 90 is from AZ so i dont have rust). Alternators have gone on both of my crx's and my best friends (about 120k). but other than that, they are bullet proof. Performance parts are pretty easy to find too, so i wouldnt worry about that... well they are easy to find for all gen 2s

if you want light wiegt get an 84 HF
like 1700lbs stock or something....then get a swap for that
bad thing about them are the solid rear axles...they suck
