Great movie, but c'mon - every where you looked those guys were hitting the button. Nice clean shots of the blue NOS bottles too and plenty of talk about it, just to make sure the ad message got through. Hell, they even snuck in a plug for their C/F bottle for all those C/F junkies out there. Can't complain too much though, I loved the movie.

The use of NOS will significantly decrease the life expectancy of your motor , but your car will be a hell of a lot faster.

Maybe you should be more specific in what you say. Don't try to scare him away from using the stuff. Nitrous will not "sginificantly reduce the life of the motor and nothing will go boom if you use the right ammount for the application you are using it for. If you use to much all the time, sure its gonna decrease the motors life...but i have heard of people using 50-60 shot dry systems, and their cars last just as long as stock. Again, if you jet a bigger shot, just use it less often. Seriously though, "significantly decrease the life expectancy of your motor". And lets not forget, almost ANYTHING that you modify your car to get more power with will cut some life off the motor. If you want more power than the car was built for, then thats what naturally happens IMO. Also, if someone could clarify, I think stock cars parts could handle up to a 20% power increase over what it makes stock (just hear-say).

Please give me evidence of a Honda that has been running NOS for 100,000+ miles, and I will retract my statement about the life expectancy decreasing. Like everything, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it - but even using nitrous the right way will produce a great deal of wear and tear on the motor. If you have seen nitrous equipped cars "last just as long as stock," then they must have the bottle in the car for looks and not be using it. As far as stock parts handling 20% power increases, I think the R owners on this board that have tried to cut corners by not replacing valve springs and retainers during Spec B installs might disagree with you...

1. I would never use nitrous on a R engine, its too nice.
2. When you say life expectancy with nitrous is not good, its going to be the same deal with turbo, or supercharger pushing the same HP. Im still thinking about putting nitrous on my LS, but turbo is calling, also I dont like the legal complications with nitrous.

Yes, I agree that any application where you are upping the horsepower A LOT will make the engine much more delicate.

Actually I ran my LS engine stock for about 1 - 1.5 years on the bottle. The only time I had a problem was when I neglected to check my solenoids and my NOS solenoid stuck open. Other than that, it was extremely reliable.

Weekend racer squeezing 120 shot. I went through about a bottle a week or two.

Everything you do to an engine will decrease life expectancy.

Except an oil change.

How were you checking the solenoids? What happened when it got stuck open? Please tell me all of the nitrous in the bottle didn't flood in yer engine.
