will the pg7 work on my 88 crx si and if so what car did it come in?
i saw a post stating that you could use the pg7 on a d16a6. i was wondering what car this was from. also looking for anything aftermarket for a crx. im from seattle so id like to meet up with someone from this area if they have anything for sale.
its a 86-89 teg ecu they had one that was a vacumn timing advance for 86-87 and then 88-89 was electronic. Of course you will need the 88-89 to work. If its a 88-89 teg it will plug in and work. It has a 7200 Rev limit which is way too high for a HF. Also gonna be too rich will kill plugs and 02 sensors unless you have a AFC
i have an si will it still mess up my plugs or will it run right. i plugged my buddies pg7 in the other day i didnt drive my car but it started right up and ran fine. thanks for the info.
It will run rich like about so eventually will kill plugs and the 02 sensor...may take a few months but when you remove them they will be black...I changed my 02 sensor after having it for 3 mos and it was pitch black....I could write my name with the carbon build up.. Its on a Z6 which is a SOHC 1.6l of course. The plugs burned good but 02 was black....
First of all he clearly stated he has an Si. I've been running a pg7 for 80,000 miles---no o2 problems. Plugs dont wear out any faster either. BTW it is also an Si. I love the performance there is no comparison to a pm6. Higher redline, pulls harder, and no shift lag. Throw one in. But when you really get on the car you will have a strong exhaust smell but it goes right away. That is only on really hot days. Even if the o2 does get a little black that the price you pay for better performance---plus they are only 40 bucks at Pep Boys. And you could probably just clean it off anyways. Isnt better performance what you want?
clearly stated SI yeah and point is.....If your too rich and drowning in gas how does that help performance. Too rich/lean isn't gonna improve anything will hurt the motor or performance. I have a PG7 with a VAFC and have some parts on the fuel curve cut down upto 10% to be in the edge of stotch/rich.....

I'm trying to say this--- a dead stock Si with a pm6 vs. one with a pg7, the pg7 will get it by a carlength. My friends and I have tooled around with these for years. I agree that it will run a little rich, but it will not run worse at all. Mine actually idles better. So IMO making the car faster is better performance, right? I'm no trying to start a flame war either, but it wont hurt the engine.
just with my experience I ran the exact same time with a PG7 and a PM6 in the 1/4 mile. I didn't notice any difference between them, higher red line is good if motor was ment/able to go that high, rich is good if you've added CAI, larger T/B, exhaust but a bone stock with no xtra air too rich IMO.
I see what your saying as far as bone stock...but I'm assuming he has at least I/E. My engine LOVES the pg7 though, I have 9.3mm wires, a dc sports exhaust and a bunch of "free" mods. It feels like everything is working in conjunction. Let me ask you a question: Wouldn't u rather smell a little fumage once and a while to gain the redline and a better top end power?
i do have i/e and i have by passed the coolant line for my intake manifold. what other "free" mods are there that i could do. also im looking at buying the sci ignition from msd anyone have an opinion on this thanks

Someone verify this because I'm only about half sure, but I think that the SCI from MSD is the exact same thing as a 6AL but it comes with a different plug that makes it 'easier to wire'... I only say this because its exactly what MSD told me a long time ago when it first came out. They told me the internal box was 100% the same. Also, it really isn't going to do anything on a basically stock civic. Save your money for something that you'll feel.... Like a swap, nitrous, turbo, super charger, suspension mods, internal upgrades, etc.... Just my opinion.
As for free mods, just keeping the thing in decent running order will be more than most of the CRXs and Civics I see out there have going for them.
