?'s about the B18C5 block
well after changing my mind 800 times about what i wanna do with my aging LS motor ive decided to swap in a TypeR motorim making great money now and by the time my LS finally ***** the bed i should have enough saved to do the swap...a couple concerns i had was that to my knowledge there are no OBD1 TypeR motors..is this correct? my car is a 94 so the exhaust is setup for OBD1 as well as there is no OBD2 thing under the dash...another question i had was would i have to convert to OBD2 or would i somehow be able to stay OBD1 and not have to run some kind of standalone ecu to stay OBD1? other than obviously the ecu and wiring would this be a pretty straight forward swap? would i be able to keep my existing 4 lug or would i have to switch to 5lug to run the axles that come with the TypeR swap? and kind of topic but what does a typical C5 put down at the wheels?
i know its a lot of questions but i appreciate any help you guys can offer

Well i guess the best thing to do for your engine management would be get a standalone and tune you ecu to the ITR. I don't know if you can do that with the LS ecu because of vtec and all. If not then you will have to get a p28 or p72.
As far as axles someone else can speak on that i'm not sure.
Power from the ITR is around 160ish whp.

- take the LS out, drop the ITR in. Axles will work fine.
- the ideal situation is to get an ITR engine with an engine harness. Then, you just plug that in, and run two additional wires for vtec from the shock tower connections back to the ECU.
- getting a chipped P28 is your best bet as far as running the engine. You should stay ODBI.
- you should be in the hybrid forum rather than the ITR one. They can help you through it regarding specific wiring, etc.

well i wont be doing the swap myself but i just wanna make sure that there will be a way i can run the ITR motor to its maximum abilities and still stay OBD1

Buy an AEM standalone
By the time you buy a chipped P28+ VAFC+ ITC it will almost be the same amount and you wont have nearly as much tuning possibilities.
I have a JDM CTR ecu and VAFC.....its a pain in the *** and normally the JDM ecu's prefer higher octane gas vs the pee water we get here in the states.
Youll be much happier with a standalone and you will have a chance at making max hp with boltons 200whp it can be done with tuning and the right parts combo.
And if you decide to go with cams, turbo, nitrous whatever...you can tune your A/F on the street instead of having to run to the dyno everytime and spend $85 an hour trying to tune it... just my .02 cents

well im definitely gonna go with the R swap but would the AEM EMS or a Hondata completely replace the existing ecu and allow me to stay OBD1?
Then dont use the itr ecu. That ecu wont plug into your car anyways. You would need a jumper harness run that itr ecu. You can get the itr cat and add all the plugs for the obd2 sensors and use the itr or you can run a chipped p28 ecu and not worry about the obd2 BS. Try doing a search.
