Default Helmet problems (accually big head problems)

My first autocross is in 10 days and I need to get a snell aproved helmet. I went in to my local motorcycle shop to try a couple on and the largest ones they had (XXL) were too small! I could get the open-faced ones on but they were pinching my ears something fierce! And the full faced helmets wouldn't come close to going on! The ones they had were some brand I've never heard of before, and I'm sorry, but I can't remember their names (I think it was just a group of letters instead of an accual name). Using the guide listed on the websites I came up with a 25" head measurement.

Does any one know which helmet brands run a little larger than others? and perhaps a good website that carries them? or maybe even a XXXL? I live in a small town so my local rescources are pretty nill.

Sorry if this has been talked to death allready, I couldn't find anything on it. If it has been discused, please point me in the right direction and I'll be on my merry little way.

TIA

Edit: it might help to spell helmet corectly!!!

If you were at a motorcycle shop it was probably HJC or AGV.
They should make a XXXL and the shop should be able to have it in for you within a week without having to rush order.

I would buy an open face for Auto X. They are cheaper and they are much cooler in the summer when sitting in grid.

You can also just search for HJC or Bell or something @ google if you want to order online.

I just picked up a xxl Snell 95 helmet off of Ebay for $36.00 shipped.

I figure I'm not out that much if it's too tight. I could probably donate it to my club for a loaner or something if it doesn't fit. I just hope it gets here soon so I can find another one if this one doesn't work.

I guess I'm a little late on this, but maybe you can use it later.
I also have a huge head. I've found that for me, a XXL Arai helmet fits, but is on the snug side. In some models, they make a XXXL.

I currently have a Bieffe Predator helmet I use for the track that's a XXL. It's probably the perfect size.

HJC's FG3 line run big.
I have a gigantic head.
I bought a XXL for $105 M2000.
It fits perfectly.
The even make a XXXL in the FG3.
It must be HUGE, if I fit fine in the XXL.

Also, Bell has recently released the M3 Xtra - which comes in 8, 8.25 and 8.5 sizes. Bell previously hasn't offered anything over 7.75.

I didn't feel good about using a "no name" helmet to protect my head, so I'm using that one as a loaner...

I found an HJC CL-31 Helmet in XXX-Large for $80.95 at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com and picked it up.

thanks again for the advice.

I thought I'd type in an update in case anyone else finds this in a search later:

I got my HJC CL-31 XXXL helmet today, fits a little loose, and it's NOT Snell certified!!!!!

I called the folks at motorcycle-superstore to ask what's up with that and their reply was "on that model number, only the xs-xxl are Snell 2000... the xxxl is only DOT approved, not Snell." So I returned it. Another thing that sucked about those guys is that I spent $25.00 shipping so that they would ship overnight (I didn't realize that the company I ordered from is based in Medford Oregon, only about 100 miles south of where I live) I placed the order on the 12th, and they didn't ship it until the 16th!!!!

Needless to say, I will never order from http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com again.

My ebay helmet hasn't arrived yet, and I'm supposed to race tomorrow. If it doesn't show up today, I don't know what I'm going to do. The club has loaners, but they're all xl, and that just won't fit me!

I've ordered from them before (back in my motorcycle days. Never had any problems, so maybe it was an isolated incident.

Just an FYI, you could have paid $99 and got a more car-racing oriented M rated helmet like this...

EDIT: Ooops, I see you needed a XXXL. Not sure G Force could accomdated that.
