16" JDM Rear Clearance Problems
Finally got a set of JDM 16s on my R. The fronts are fine but the rears rub. Surprise of surprises, it is not the tires (215/45s) but the wheel weights on the inside lip. The upper control arm is so close that it actually just kisses the wheel weight.
As I see it, I have (maybe) three fixes:
1 - Rebalance the wheels with weights taped to the inside of the rims rather than the rim lip.
2 - Get 5mm spacers for the rear (changes track, possible rubbing problems of the actual tire.
3 - Get new upper control arms that do not have as much "overhang."
Anyone else run into this?

i had this exact problem. u need to rebalance the wheels and move the wheel weights to the inside of the wheel or somewhere else. just take have them rebalance and reweight the two rear wheels.
do you have the type of weights that grip onto the lip or tape? well either way if the weight is hitting it, the control arm is definitely too close to the rim
My weights grip (or crimp) onto the lip. Sounds like I just need to rebalance with taped weights inside the weel.
It still makes me wonder why the Upper Control Arm is so honking close...

JDM cars have a solid control arm instead of our pressed steel wonder
I've got crimped inner wheel weights but no problems encountered so far.
