Default 00si with SMC500 set to 0% on stock setup *idling and bogging problems*

Ok, I'll try to keep this as short as possible. I'm in the first stages of boostin my '00 si which as of right now is pretty much stock (except i/h/e). Its not my daily driver so I'm takin my time on it. Put in my SMC500 today, I'm an Air Force electronics tech so wiring and soldering are child's play. Get it all in, double check my work, make it all pretty...fire it up and the idle just bounces between 1k-1.2k. Try and rev it up, works fine unless i give it a good "blip" and then i can hear it bog. All the settings are set to 0%, mind you the stock injectors and fpr are still in since i'm doing one thing at a time then checkin it (dsm 450's still sitting on my desk) I haven't tried trimming fuel at any range because why would i want to trim fuel on stock injectors and pressure? Anyone see this before? Could it be a bad SMC? -Mike

i think the smc is intended to be used with 450cc injectors. i think you running lean. read the manual and set it to that specs then tune it from there

When u hook up the smc make sure u reset the ecu before starting. i ran the smc+ with stock injectors for about 2 weeks. ran like stock.

what he said exactly

i ran a stock setup as well, only with the SMC+, but thats the same idea as your SMC500. if you still cant get it, i would IM zip. he always is good about replying fast to problems. you're sure you've programmed the SMC+ properly as well? i know this is a dumb question, but i'm trying to rule everything out for you.

the best of luck

Have you ever had check valves or a missing link on your map sensor? Check to make sure you replaced that little O-ring when putting the map sensor back on. I swear, it's so simple, but I forgot it for two months and couldn't figure out why the hell my car was running so shitty. Confused MAP sensor / vacuum leak = shitty idle, rich running, no power, bogging throttle response.

Thanks for all the reply's. I reset the ecu in the process(since my battery was unhooked for 3 days ). But now i'm throw'n misfire codes when i rev it. Funny thing is it revs up fine, and down too until about 1500 rpm then it hits like a switch good to crappy. I rechecked all my settings and they are correct. The SMC blinks in relation to my rpm's, I'm at a loss, but not frustrated Zip's lookin into it, so hopefully it'll work out. I'll keep you guys posted. -Mike

*UPDATE* Here's the IM i sent zip:

zip, good news! I let the car warm up to temp. That brought my idle down to a normal 750rpm. And guess what? No oscillation either until i rev past 1k then all hell breaks loose until past 1500 then it clears up. so for "***** and giggles" i trim 1% from 1k and that fixed it! No road tests of yet (car isnt exactly in one piece) but I'm not worried. Thanks for the help. -Mike
