Mini me Really worth it??

Is it really worth slapping a vtec head on my 150,000mile d16a6 block? I hear so many possible problems with fuel and such. Basically I want my motor to put out roughly what a zc motor puts down. I wanna run 15.1-15.5 quarter mile times and I dont want a dish full of problems. I can either buy the head and run a pm7 ecu with a rpm switch for vtec or save till next season and buy a zc for a whole lot more cash. Any helpful thoughts on this?
stock usdm sohc vtecs put out about 130 to the crank, so i wouldn't expect much more than 150 to the crank. I did lots of research, found out its pretty expensive. Woulda cost me anywhere from 800-1200 bucks to pull off, i just spent that money on getting the parts to build up my a6 im expecting ~150 whp. granted the idle will suck, but heck who does much idling when they've got a built sohc?

Mini-me's aren't worth it unless you're gonna stick with 'em for the long run.
Simply replacing your A6 head with a Z6 or Y8 isn't worth the money. You have to go all out or you are not going to get the best results...

I could have sworn the numbers were somthing like 86hp, I remember everyone commented on how small his exhaust was, I think we figured he gained like 10hp over stock and it cost him somewhere near $200.

if you do it right as in get the fuel and ignition timing right its worth it. what i consider right is ODB I conversion with P28 ECU or a Zdyne ECU. i have a Zdyne one wire conversion and have no problem what so ever with idle. the power is great and it pulls like a ****. if you are just looking to put a Z6 or Y8 head on it and halfass it with a VTEC controller its not worth your time and money.

I would have just bought a whole d16 longblock for that much and swapped the whole **** in!

Yes, they're worth it if you do them right. First thing you should do is do a compression test on your a6. If the number are weak don't bother.
My car put down 122 whp untuned. It was a a6 block, z6 head, dc header, aem CAI, stock exhaust, straight pipe, P28 ECU and a d16y8 cam. The air filter was dirty and the spark plugs were old. there are other people on here that have had better results than that. If you do it right, and you have good bottom end it's a great little swap. There is another mini-me on the link, it also had 275k on the bottom end!

what would you have to do to make it worth it? what other options do you have if you dont want to do a b-series swap? i was thinking of doing it very soon.
