Default Are all D series axles the same?

I've got a '91 HF and my passenger side CV joint is clicking pretty bad... can I replace it with any D series axle or does it have to be HF? Reason I'm asking is someone is selling me their axles from a 92-95 Si for a good price.

Thanks!

Scott

CRX HF and Civic STD had axels with 23 outersplines. Every other CRX and Civic had 26 outer splines. So unless you also switch to DX/Si knuckles you will need to still use HF/STD axels.

Yes and don't forget to mention that the 88 tranny/axles had different number of splines than 89-91...

Plain and simple no you can use any axle from any d-series. And also the 92-95 axles wont work either even if it was an HF.

I don't understand your post. So I will have to get Si knuckles for them to work? How much do those usually run and how hard are they to install? Thanks!

What dont you understand?? Those axle will not work it would cost you a hell of a lot more to be able to use those axles than it would for you to run up to autozone and pick up a set with a lifetime warranty that are actually for your car. So why would you want to get used axles?? You say he is selling them to you for a steal? Whats a steal to you?? I mean it would cost you about $120 for 2 new axles with warranties so whats this great deal that you would be getting them for?

Thanks Vince, please disregard my ignorance. I will just get some at AutoZone when the time comes. Reason I was asking is I was going to buy a D16Z6 longblock and axles for $190... but I don't think I'm going to do that anymore since I have an A6/Z6 Mini-Me waiting to be installed. My friend is going to buy it instead. Thanks for your help.
