i wanna do some stuff to my si engine to make it somewhat fast. what all could i do, excluding boost and nitrous. but i just want a little something now till i can afford my d16z6 head and turbo...so what do you think i could do.....its stock now.

 

CAI...headers....2.25 exhaust piping...(for starters) but before you do anything tune it up first so you get the full potential of the mods and it also makes sure that everything was working before you added a bolt-on so you don't get frustrated when something goes wrong.....

 

I bought an ECU chip for $25 on EBAY....put it in....got about 10-14 HP....never had a problem since the install!!

 

I wouldnt buy a header since u said there is a turbo in the future, then it would be useless. Get a nice catback, dont bother with a CAI. Just remove all piping after the actual airbox and get a K&N drop in. CAI's dont really do much, I noticed better gains with my drop-in setup over my AEM. Then tune it up, get a pg7 ECU to up your redline and add power. A couple good free mods are get a lower temp.T-stat, disconnect coolant lines to the IM so you are not heating the IM, and remove the dashpot. Theres a bunch more too.

where are these located at?

 

well the turbo is in the wayy future. another 6 months at least if i even get one...im prolly gonna get a thermal catback exhaust, or greddy if i got the cash, but prolly thermal, i took the piping off the airbox, will get a new filter, and what about the lines to the IM? and the dashpot, what is that. ha. what are some other free or cheap mods like that.

 

It is kinda hard to explain, if I had a digi it would be easy. If any of you can snap a topshot of the IM and a trannyside kinda undershot, I'll be happy to explain some free mods that actually do something.

o i took all the tubes and such off the airbox, no new filter yet, but i put my silencer thing in my exhaust again, and i can acually feel a little dif, even w/ my clutch slippin like crazy. i cant wait to get my new one in. i need to go race my friend w/ a 300zx again. i think i can beat him this time.

 

any idea on the gains a pg7 ecu will give if your running I/H/E d16a6?

haha I was thinkin the same thing steveeeO I hope that guy wasn't fooled into thinking he was making 15% more power with some bullshit ebay chip, do people really beleive revving wayyyyy past their powerband creates power?

You mean it doesn't??? I thought banging the rev limiter was like a double shot of V-tec

LoL, was that on the Butt dyno or just cuz its a chip thats supposedly not stock.
