is this gsr motor worth it?
i guy wants to sell his complete gsr swap for 2200.00 but the tranny needs all new sychros and a 1st gear. and the flywheel is rusty. i think that is all that is wrong with it. so is this a good deal or not the best er what?
If you are good with tools and want to learn about manual transmissions you can replace the synchros yourself. You will probably have to take the main shaft to a transmission shop to have the new synchros/gears pressed on but I can't see this costing a great deal. Most of the $$$ in having a transmission rebuilt is in the labor removing and installing it. As for the flywheel just replace it with a lighter one and replace the clutch. If the rest of the engine is in good shape its not a bad deal.

well putting the motor in and stuff i am not worried about i know a guy that does tranmission work he said if i get the parts he could do it for me but how much do you think synchros and the 1st gear would cost plus the fly wheel and clutch?
Would anyone reccommend just installing all of the sychrones instead of just first gear, since the tranny is out already?
If the motor has good mileage, I'd say that's a good deal.

Sorry, didn't read it correctly, thought he said just first.
If he was just replacing first because that's the only gear that grinds, would anyone reccommend replacing all all the sychrones, since the tranny is already out?

actually, in a rebuild, the labor is usually the CHEAPEST part.
the parts themselves are dang expensive.
Labor on my bros tranny was only $185.
The total price was just under $1100, you do the math on the cost of parts.
BTW, this was with us taking the tranny out and bringing it to the shop ourselves.
