Default OBDI B18C VTEC Question

Does vtec occur at 4400 and then the second kick at 5800 is only the butterflys in the intake manifold opening? Shouldn't it be the other way around? I have heard of using an APEXi controller to set your vtec at 5850 so it happens right after the IAB soleniod opens the butterflys. Also does anybody know where i can get a detailed explanation of the actions of the B18C engine---I soak up technical info like a dry sponge!
thanks

Default Re: OBDI B18C VTEC Question (brodsterH22)

On BOTH OBDI and OBDII GSRs the vtec engages at 4400rpm and the secondaries open at 5800-6000rpm. If you set the vtec x-over at 5800rpm with stock cams, you will be slooooooooow up till 5800rpm. Why do you think honda set the vtec x-over at 4400rpm and the secondaries at 5800rpm??? It wasnt just because the engineer liked those numbers!!!

You shouldnt soak up all information so freely as it sounds like some crap got into your sponge already
