Default USDM Engines?

I have a question. I own a 97 Civic EX and i really want to do a B16 swap, but I want to keep it emissions legal . Anyone know where I can get a USDM B16 for a reasonable price? Thanks.

I tried looking for a usdm b18c because the jdm compression will be touchier with turbo but the usdm was going to cost even more than a jdm one so........

You can get a JDM and then get the USDM smog stuff. Which is basically just the USDM ECU because your car will already have some usable smog stuff on it.

BTW, you can do this with B18C's as well.

2700 for a JDM B18C (GS-R) + another few hundred for smog stuff. Good deal to me!

EDIT: Ah I see you want to turbo too.....

Smog stuff.....anyone wanna tell me where to buy this stuff? I found a first generation JDM engine, B16A for like $1100.00 and it sounds good. But where do I buy the smog stuff? I really want a B16, but I want to keep it emissions legal. My friend got a 2001 Civic SI engine for $3500...I dont have that kind of money! i have $1,689 dollars saved up for my car. And again, emissions is a big factor.

i dont think you want that first gen b16. u would have to spend more money finding a tranny for it since its cable tranny and your car is hydro. and also for it to be smog legal the motor would have to be your cars year or newer so 97 or newer. and a first gen b16 is knowwhere near 1997. so therefore just get a usdm b16. i got mine for 2650 shipped to my door from the guy i mentioned earlier.

I agree with EGsixer.

However, you can get 97 and newer JDM B18C's for 2700 from HMO? or Osaka? Either way one of them.

If you don't have that kind of money, read the post in my signature and stick with the SOHC's.
