sohc turbo fellas I need your help.
The goal of my car is just be to fun to drive yet reliable. I have run across this deal for 2,400 bucks. It includes a 30k mile d16z6 with a built head jg cams and cam gear with a drag I turbo kit (t3) with everything gauges and FMIC. I was planning on putting in ARP head studs and a metal head gasket. If I drive this at 10 psi and fully tuned with Hondata will it last me for a while???
I have the option of doing a gsr swap but it will be more money (roughly 3300) and I dont think it will be nearly as fast....
Basically will a well taken care of sohc turbo last me for a while?

As long as it wasnt abused before you get it I think it will last a long while(assuming you drive well)....I wouldnt use the metal head gasket though, most people use the stock gasket and dont have any problems.
10psi and tuned, the stock headgasket should work fine. Make sure to do a compression test on it though. You don't want to get a killer deal and have a beat motor.
ARP head studs
Get a Factory head gasket, is the bottom end stock, did the prior owner drive it at high boost levels untuned? Need more info on history and bottom end.

sorry I didnt clarify at first. The motor and tranny are from a stock car that I am buying at a different shop. It has had a compression test done on it. The head and turbo kit are from another guy, he has papers on the rebuilt turbo and papers showing the head work was just done about 2 months ago. This may sound dumb, but I have never taken off a head before, when i swap from the stock one to the built head, do i need a new gasket (like you guys said, factory)?? or is the original one reusable?
The list goes turbo kit and head 1400 shipped
engine and tranny + ecu 700
clutch and hondata......don't know yet
I think that I should put in an upgraded clutch and pressure plate since I have the motor out
Also any thoughts on a dx hatch with 10-12 psi and P&P head tuned???? I am thinking low 13's

yea, you need to change the head gasket most of the time they will give you problems if you try to reuse it if it has been on the car a while. Also if you are thinking low 13's, then definatly upgrade your clutch.

I just bought a D16z6 block with the crank for $50. Perfect condition, with only 50,000 miles on it.
Just dying to be sleeved

Like many say, D16's are a dime a dozen and my god, that statement is true. That's one of the biggest deciding factors for me, to stay SOHC. If something goes wrong? BAM, you've got yourself a decent block for pocket change (almost

Try finding B16 and B18's for that price if you blow your **** up...goodluck!
