Accord tranny question...
My friend has a '92 Auto Accord. Now when he drives, and shortly after he stops, there's a noise coming from the tranny, sorta like a grind. I asked him if he changed the tranny fluid, he told me he did about two months ago. Now the sound goes on for about 5 seconds after the car has stopped. Here's the tricky part, when the car is on parked and you blip the throttle, it doesn't make the sound, it only does it when it's in gear. Any suggestions as to what this may be? I know it's tranny involved, could it be his bearings? I suggested he change his tranny fluid again just to see if it helps.
Tell him #1) do a tranny flush and put new Honda ATF in it. if that doesnt do it then #2)check the transmission mount. if thats not it then #3)can be a number of things, ATF pump going bad, torque converter or housing damaged, mainshaft worn or damaged, all kinds of things.
