oh my friend had the same problem, but couldn't figure out what it was. i figure maybe something isn't completely tight and as the air is sucked thru it goes thru where it leaks and makes a whistling sound. kinda like a whistle when u blow thru it.

Sounds normal to me.... it's typical of the intake to make the hissing sound at low/partial throttle because of the amount of air coming in..... depending on how much air is sucked in the sound or resonance changes.....

Just my .02 cents...

It's a whistle tip . . . woowoooo!!!

No, it's common for the cold-air intakes to whistle and hiss sometimes under partial throttle. Every single car with a CAI I've ridden in has done it at one time or another. Shoot, I've even heard some cars whistle with their stock airboxes . . .

gotta love that sound.. it gets me weird looks..

and im pretty sure it's the wire mesh surrounding the filter. air passes through this so fast it whisles..
i have a k&n filter, that was cai, but now its a short.

Just remember to make psssh sounds everytime you let off the gas, or you will damage your "turbo". And always let it idle before turning off the ignition.

Its normal, mine does it too.

Here's something fun. Pop the hood, have the engine running and listen by the filter.

Now while it is running, rip the throttle body open and listen to the "PHUMP"

I can hear mine in the parking garage....neutral coasting and just blip the accelerator....."phump"

Mines does the same thing, and on idle, it almost sounds like I have a supercharger in there, it's a low "weeeeeeeee" sound.

I know you guys like my sound effects.

its from the air passing over the throttle plate at low to mid throttle. its not caused by the mesh of your filter. take off your intake and turn on the car then give it minute throttle it will whistle

Please dont listen to this guy!!! Taking off your intake to get dirt/other crap in your engine....not a good plan!
