Default damnit

I just got my rex a few days ago..i love it so much, its in the finest condition ive seen in a crx so far and i cant believe i got it. EVERY piece of suspension was replaced not too long ago, and it rides like a nice piece of sex.

Then today i was drivin around this park and a hardcore speedbump came out of no where. I slowed down pretty fast but not fast enough...i hit it kinda hard, not THAT hard tho. I continued driving and everything felt fine then i started hearing this weird noise, it didnt stop either..it really started to worry me so i pulled over and looked at the tires, both still had air. So i took off again and i still heard it, i drove home..didnt hear nuthin on the highway..took the exit to my neighborhood and i listened real close..nuthin...went around the corner to my friends house, i got on his street then i heard it again..after that it came and went.

This sound REALLY bothers me, especially since i dont know what it is. I noticed some grease on the underside of the car by the bumper on the passanger side. I dont know if thats the result of what happened or not, but the sound kinda sounds like its comming from over there.

Any theories?

fyi..all suspension is still OEM

What did the noise sound like ? You said you saw some grease on the bumper, that makes me think its something to do with your axle.

that thought crossed my mind but i didnt really seem to see or feel any grease besides that one spot..the sound kinda resembled drivin on a dirt road kinda slow, little bump sounds, subtle and with theyre not evenly spaced...more like "bump...bump............bump bump...........bump............................... .....bump....." i dont wanna give you false info but in a way it kind of soudns like something rubbing together..im pretty clueless to what it could be, the feel of driving still ownz, i dont feel a difference took it up to 75 on the highway, steering wheel feels as if the car is at a stand still, no problems with vibrating.

Pull off both front tires if you blew a CV boot it will be evident.

Not much can happen to those bushings, I'm guessing with the grease that he found it's kind of obvious what happened. I bet you'll take your tire off and your calipers and fender lining will be covered in the same grease. Axle will cost about $60 with your core.

You really think a speedbump would break a CV joint? And yea, I got my axle at Autozone for $60 w/ the core.

Well CV boots rip during normal operation so I'm guessing that the additional abuse might have caused it to tear more. Either way it's a good place to start looking.

i dont know, my guess would be something in the way of a wheel bearing. If you imagine what happens under the car when you hit a speedbump really hard, it doesn't seem like an axle boot would tear. He could possibly have a torn axle boot (where the grease is coming from), but i don't think this is what he is hearing.

the bearing theory came into thought today..and thats what im starting to lean toward..i checked the ground under my car today to see if any of that grease had leacked onto the concrete..none so i look on the underside of the car and all the grease apparently dried up, maybe it wasnt even grease..i may have hit a real dirty water puddle somewhere and didnt realize it....today in the daylight i had a chance to take a look at it and i turned my wheel all the way to the right so i could see my suspension, no grease anywhere or anything out of the ordinary...anyone else think it could be a bearing?

Could be just a brake dust shield rubbing a little. Make sure the dust shield is bent away from the brake disk.

i had a weird bump bump thing goin on in the rear of my car...a couple times actually. Once was a blown strut. THe other time...one top of the strut the nut that holds the strut down wasnt all the way on so the shaft that sticks out the top was making a noise that sounded like that. ITs all that i could think of. Go outside and push down on all four corners of the car and make sure its not somethign like that....i dunno maybe that mgiht help

same exact thing happened to me, i hit a dip hard as HELL!. Well yea, the sound (Sounded like something was loose under the front of the car and knocking around) is something to do with the steering rack. I never fixed it and havent had a problem yet *knock on wood*. That was about 6 months ago.

no grease or anything anywhere...

the speed bump was one of those old school ones that are thin, tall, and hard as hell...any speedbumps made in like the past 5-10 years around here are just real long and short, you can go like 60 over them and berely feel them...the old speed bumps you had to slow down or your f#$%ed...

the break shield thing sounds pretty reasonable because i can SORT OF feel the bumping thing in the brake pedal when im breaking...but its reallllll subtle. and also ive always kinda thought it got a little more rapid when i was breaking...

i decided to ignore it most of today, but then i noticed i think its gettin worse..maybe its just in my head tho...

just get under the car...well jack it up put it on stands and grab and pull on everyting to see if its tight...might have busted a bushing...maybe your ball joints decieded to go..maybe a tirod is loose...could be lots of things...get under and start checking...prolly the only way your goin to figure it out...if you bring it in...thats what they would do
