they are like b16 heads
so thats how they get treated!!!
but they are much easier to use for a ls/vtec set up

how is a b17 head much easier to use than a b16 head in a ls/vtec setup? i'm not trying to flame, just extremely curious as i've never heard that claim before.

I would think it harder to use then B16 head in the fact that without modifications the only Intake manifold you can use is the one from the B17 as opposed to with B16 you can use the B16 and B18C intake manifold.

Lol... B17 head is just as hard to do LSVT as other heads.... don't know what he's talking about.

B17 is a good head/i/m, if you can't afford dual valve springs (read ITR), definitely go w/ at least new springs and fresh valve seals. Also newer GSR cams have a more aggressive lobe, but I don't know if you'd get the full potential on a stock b16 or b17 ecu. (What ecu ARE you gunna use ?)

Well, most of the valvetrain parts you will find will say they are for B16/B18C VTEC heads and non-specific. That's how Toda sells theirs, you would be fine buying valvesprings and retainers for the B16 head.

To the guy who was talking non-sense about the intake manifolds.....the b16 and b17 heads are the same casting- they could use the same manifolds. And by b18c manifold on a b16 head i hope you are not referring to a b18c1 manifold

Better have a high compression bottom end to make any real power, and someone to tune it well. They are really aggressive cams. Same lower lobes as Toda B's just more aggressive VTEC lobe.

as far as ive looked so far i want possibly arias 12:1, eagle rods, rings, new bearings... do you know as far as which head studs i use ? gsr or ls ? oh and by the way i traded the b17 for a 00'gsr head so i dont have to worry about any fitting problem. while i'm at it which head gasket do i use ? any help on hte subject of LSVTEC would be greatly appreciated.

why would you trade a b17 head which uses the same casting as a b16 or ITR head, for a 00 gs-r head? Now your choices for certain parts are limited. Bad choice, reverse it if you can.
