Ok, gonna do the timing belt soon (possibly this weekend). Where should I support the engine after removing the drivers side top mount? I'm guessing don't use the oil pan or it will dent.
How about when doing the clutch, while removing the tranny top mount... where to support engine?
Suggestions welcomed.
Thanks a bunch.

I have always used a jack with a 14" 2X6 on the oil pan when removing one of these mounts. The weight is evenly distributed across a large area and I have yet to dent an oil pan.
THere are four other mounts to carry the load. They do so effectively enough that the engine doesn't even noticeably move out of place and that driver-side upper mount doesn't (<-whatjahellizhiz?) just slips right out and back in without any catching [edit: snagging].
Use a plank of wood on the jack under the oil pan when doing tranny work. Never hurt nobody.

You can support the engine on the oil pan.. it will hold it fine.
I always use a short piece of 2x4 and a jack..
Can't really think of another way except for en engine hoist.

Thanks guys,
Just to set the record straight, so I don't need to support the engine for drivers mount removal but do need to for tranny mount removal.

You got it.
And me, personally, I take the whole engine out for tranny/clutch work because I don't have a tranny jack and it's a big pain in the *** for me. Takes me less time to pull the engine..
