Default Clock not working properly..

Okay, for the life of me, I can't figure out this problem... It's the dash clock in my 94 si.. It resets its self every time I turn the car off and then back on.. and it lights up very dim.. when the car is on and I press the bar below it, it lights up bright, like normal.. and if the car is off and I press that bar(when it should come on) it doesn't come on at all.. I have no radio in there, and i've checked for a blown fuse, but nothing.. Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks!

I will send you an email as soon as I can with a wiring diagram for the clock.
