Default Knock Sensor Question d16y8

Ok well i did a vtec head swap, i had an ex engine wire harness but it had some split wires so i used my dx harness and pulled all the wires i needed right from the harness. I pulled the knock sensor wire(blue) out but it was connected to a Brown/Black wire that was connected into a Brown colored plug that was capped off(and a b*tch to get the cap off it) right above the ecu by the firewall.
What is that plug for? is it essential for me to wire that brown wire into that plug? in the spot where it should go on the DX harness there is a Brown/Black wire there? Can anyone tell me what this wire is and if it is essential?

thanks guys

As you can see here the knock sensor is supposed to go in D6.
I have no idea what the brown plug is for. (No experience with actual wiring of knock sensor)

yea i got it in d6 and theres no CEL for knock sensor, so i know its working, just have this spare wire coming off of the knock sensor

dunno if i should splice the wire thats currently in the spot where this brown wire was on the EX harness or if i should just leave it?

ok dude, if i recall right... if you pull that cap of its a relay... a circuit end if you will by pulling that off your motor will not run! As for the knock sensor, your motor doesnt really need it, though it would be a good idea to use it. the best thing i can tell you is to get a helm's manual and find where the pinout for the knock sensor is.

are you talking about the Brown rectangular plug down by the ecu or the relays under the Intake Manifold? everythings still capped, just this wire going to nothing, just sittin on the floor by my ecu, all i figured the brown plug was was a diagnostic tool hookup and the wire was just there for when they(if it is that) hooked it up to see if the knock sensor was wrong, but i could be wrong.

I figured with just like i did with the vtec wires and such i just slipped them right into the harness connecter with the little silver connectors still on them, but when i went to do it for this wire i saw there was one in its spot already.

i tried running my car without the knock sensor, didn't work, it majorly retarded the engine back, once i ordered it from someone on here and hooked it up my car was fine. Knock sensor is hooked into the ecu connectors too. Not getting a code for it.
