To paint CF or not to paint POLL
gee, i say paint it.
it adds weight, but i sure as hell don't want to be made fun of by MTK Kommander.

paint it if you got the $$
dont paint it if you dont have the $$ for it and are gonna use it for functional purposes... weight reduction, or buying REAL performance parts..

honestly who makes a light CF hood - ones I've seen are like 13 lbs for VIS which seems to have a good fit.
No one really has EVER weighed em out...

track car and/or purposely ugly car (often abused for fun, which causes dents, dings, scratches, etc.) = leave it, cuz looks dont matter on a car that you USE
car that doesnt get abused, car that gets showed, or a car that needs to keep aesthetic appeal (street driven, no need for mismatched parts and/or weight reduction) = paint it god dammit..

My friend's Fiber Images hood on his 95 Civic weighs about 5 lbs. It only has the frame around the outer edges of the hood. Yet it is still very strong, very functional.
Well then you might as well just leave the stock hood, cuz the CF hood would serve no purpose whatsoever (not for looks, and not for less weight, so it has no purpose).

people should do what they want
after all its their car, not anyone else's
I like how carbon fiber looks, thats why I put it on my car

CF hoods dont look good

stock hood for a street car is just fine.
well, i'm gonna have to yell at MTK on this one. painting a carbon fiber hood is retarded. A true racer shouldn't care about the aesthetics of his car, as long as the aerodynamics are there (no wrecks). I personally like the look of carbon fiber.
Many people on here (and owners of imports, in general) buy carbon fiber hoods and install them unpainted only for "looks". A true racer will install it for the fact that it reduces vehicle weight. Painting it does absolutely nothing for the car, but adds a hair of weight, and takes around $100 out of the owner's pocket, which can be used towards other upgrades.
The only reason i could fathom for painting a hood is if one is building a "sleeper". If you are building a racecar or showcar, there is absolutely NO reason to paint it. They are not at all ricey, don't take anything away from the car, and serve more of the original purpose unpainted.

guess you didnt see the part where i said "a track car" .. meaning true racer.. plus, if someone is a "true racer" they have a car that gets abused.. not just some poser street care made to be a replica.. my opinion is CF looks stupid.. i dont see why people care so much about what i think.
