Default Need a Liter bike

I currently have a 1995 honda cbr 600. I am 6'2'' 270 lbs. As you can see I need a bigger bike. I don't know what to get. Need some input. I have heard that the v-twins have a lot of torque but have no top end. I want to spend around 9k. I love my honda. was possibly thinking about the new cbr 1000rr that comes out next year or RC51 or the gixxer 1000. Or even the tl1000R. I have heard some bad things about the Gixxerr breaking down, but I never owned one. Need help

At your size, I might check out the TLR. I think you'd prefer the torque. IMO the RC51 is a bit cramped cockpit-wise (I'm 6'4", 150lbs). The GSXR just seems like overkill for me. I'd say pick up a clean TLR or a 954 and save your extra cash for insurance and bling.

There's always the SV1000S or FZ1 if you want a slightly more relaxed position and partial fairings. Or the bandit 1200, but I'm not a big fan of that thing.

I haven't heard anything about the GSXR that suggests it has any more problems than is normal for bikes. Just about every bike producded has a few quibbles. For Example: The TLR had a weepy PVC valve that blew back oil into the airbox, and the rotary rear shock heated up easily and got soft. One's fixable with a filter, the other's fixable with a real shock. *shrug*

How long have you been riding? Those liter bikes can be a handful. RC51 is an awesome bike though. Itd say its king of hte v-twins right now.

I'm not trying to be mean but you need to look at losing some weight. At 270 you're loading down the suspension quite a bit. Not saying you're fat at 6'2 but 270 is ballpark of me w/ a bitch on back. Especially with all the weight over the front. You can adjust preload and so on but there is a limit w/ the factory setup. I can say that for the rc51 from experience. The tl should be better.

I've got an 01' R1 and will never go back to a Honda. You should ride one, you will think the same way. Although the other bikes mentioned are nice.

You might change your tone when Honda releases the CBR1000RR. It's always flip-flopping year to year on who has the best liter bike. The companies are always one-upping each other..

you're probably right in this case. but its interesting though becuase in my case i think if i dropped my weight down to 230, that would be ideal. i would have to lose muscle mass to go below that.

at your size i would say gixxer1000 all the way. At this point there is no other bike on the road that compares. about 8 pounds heavier that a 750 and about 25 more hp.. its ******* sick bro. I weigh 165 and I have a 1000. can you say 12:00 whellies in 3rd gear without the clutch. and with your size and strength you should be able to pull that sucker up in 4th with a bounce. NOTHING OUT THERE CAN HANG WITH A SUZUKI, and parts are very easy to come by. good luck man
