nope, there too long by a little bit. they stick up above the rim.

I would think they would function. They just won't fit as well as stock. I'm assuming it is not recommended to run without that seal for long periods of time as you run a risk of pooling water and rusting the plug/wire, but I would guess it would be OK for a while or test.
