Need advice.....wheels for my IS300 for auto-x

Not much help with this on IS300.net *shurgs*
okay, I don't want to auto-x on my stock wheels too long (polish graphite is just too pretty
).
Looking for a decent 17"x7" (5x114 bolt pattern) wheel for my ride. (Would 17x7.5 in the rear, move me out of DS?!)
Not that I run SCCA, just FYI.
I'll be slapping on Azenis tires @ 225/45/17
I have a total budget of around $850 for wheels & tires. So I have no problem buying a good set of used wheels.
any suggestions?

Wheels must remain same width, diameter and +/- .25" of the factory offset.
Look at other models i'm sure there is something out there that will fit from another car.

16" wrx wheels fit
have you tried tirerack? The Fox Sport Editions come in just about every fitment there is, and are 17x7. Discount tire direct also has plenty of 17x7 wheels, you should be able to find something that is pretty cheap and not too heavy.
or what about finding a set of used stock IS300 wheels?

5x100?! doesn't sound right
oh well....
did think about getting a used set of IS300 wheels. But most of the sellers are on the east coast, or dealers over pricing them.
Not looking for anything too heavy, but around the same weight as stock. Whatever that is?!
...the search continues.

If the IS 300 came with 16 and 17 wheels from the factory, I'd go with the 16" wheel size - depending on the width of the stock 16" alloy wheels. If they are rediculously skinny (6" and less) then I would look at the 17" wheels.
For 16x7 wheels (if that is the factory size) these wheels would be great, and they kind of look a little like the stock ones: Rage Breaker - less than $100 per wheel. Then you have your choice of 205/55-16 V rated Azenis ($85) or 215/45-16 Z rated Azenis ($106).... Those cheap wheels with Z rated Azenis will come out to $804 + tax etc. - meaning ending up right at your price range.
Going to 17" wheels will cost more.

How about OZ Superleggaras or SSR Integrals? (they may have stopped making those). I know they both come in 17x7. Not sure about the offsets on the OZ's, but I know for a fact that the SSR's offsets were within the stock class allowance. Both wheels are fairly light.
The 16" wheels on the IS300 were 16x6.5" IIRC. That's not a very common aftermarket size. There are some OEM wheels in that size (5th gen Honda Prelude and the front S2000 wheels, both with offset +55 mm), but the centerbore spacing may not match the Lexus hubs.

Look at the option packages the 16" wheels came with. For instance (i dont know if this is the case) but if the sport package and LSD only came with 17" wheels then 16" would not be legal.
If 16" are legal i'd use those, tires are cheaper.

Oops, you're right. I forgot to mention that.
I *think* the 16's were a stand-alone option. It was part of the winter tire package. Doesn't really make sense to run that size anyway, since the only Azenis you could run in that size is a 215/45/16.
The IS isn't the lightest car in the world, so I'd put 225's on that thing at the minimum.

Only problem with the OZ Superleggeras and SSR integrals are that four 17X7 wheels alone will be way over $850... more like over $1100 for just the wheels.
Maybe you could autocross on railroad tracks though....hmmmm
So the stock 16" wheels are 6.5" wide - blah... I'd figure Lexus would have put a little more width (like 16X7) for the IS300 16" wheels.

Do you have to run azenis? What about the Ecsta MX?
17"x7 are standard on the IS300. But the Sportcross (wagon version) has 17x7.5" in the rear
16" is an option, and they look fugly.
There are many options in the 225/45R17 which I like. Standard are 215/45R17.
Contact local autocrosser Derek Butts. He's some sort of Manager for Lexus and runs a factory sponsored IS300 in DSP. He put his car together from two slavaged IS300 and might still have the stock rims as he only uses SSR comps now. I don't have a contact number for him but I have seen him post on www.is300.net.
