What wheels can i fit..
hey,
i previously had 14" wheels on my '94 civic and i am looking to get some new wheels and tires. i thought that 16" wheels were pushing it but when i was looking around there weren't too many 16" wheels out their. I would like to know if it is possible to fit anything higher such as a 17" without screwing around with the height. Also, if this is possible what dimension of a tire would i need. i really want to fit 205's on there.
thanx

17s are a bit big, but dont hurt anything and dont rub on stock suspension. i got 205/17/40s on my sedan and they have never rubbed in the 2 years of having em.
oh yeah, and i also know that when you go to like 215 or 225s youre spedometer gets (noticably) messed up so id stick with 205s. i measured the circumfrance of my 17s wrapped with 205s and my steelies and the 17s were less than an inch larger in circumfrance (which isnt much).

Are you sure you want to take the 17s route? Since you will be running 17s, your tires will be considerably small in thickness and your ride will flat out suck. Not to mention, you'll be driving a Civic that looks like it's about to go offroad.
IMO, don't go bigger than 15s on a 1992-1995 chassis and 16s on a 1996-2000 chassis.

15's on his car wont make it look like a lifted 4x4. If he puts any aftermarket suspension kit, that will lower the car, it would look nice. 17's would be to big, the ride quality would suck. 16's wouldnt be bad, but there are still problems he could run into. I say 15's, any 15's.
And for boomer0587, there's a TON of options for wheels. What do you like? Do a search and decide what you want.

i roll 17s on my 93 coupe. the ride does suck and its lowered which rubs a bit.
i suggest 16's lowered. i just dont like 15's, looks the same as a steelie or a oem rim

i had 19's when i bought my civic. boy was that a dumb idea. i remember when my dad drove down the block with it and the tires rubed every time you turn the wheel like a 100th of the way =\

Shut the **** up.
Having big *** 17s will lift the **** out of a Civic. Have you 17s in person...especialy WITHOUT dropping it? Enough ground clearance to compete with my 1997 Grand Cherokee 4x4 with a budget boost.
BTW, you can't compare 50 tall tires to 38" tall Swampers. It's like saying you have a brain and actually believing it.

How much do you want to bet that a 50 tall tire will have less gap between the top of the tire and the fender than a 35 tall tire on 17s?

ok ******* i can't shut the **** up because i'm typing and yeah i've seen 17s in person they come stock on alot of **** and i've even seen 18's. how the hell can a 17 lift the **** out of a civic i believe a 50 tire and a 35 tire have the same out side diameter or circumfrance and if you had a ****** brain which I sure don't you would keep the same OD so it woudn't **** up your speedo and hieght making fender gap the same unless lowered and im not comparing 50 to swampers Im making a point of the apperance

Did you just own yourself by saying that your WIFE owns you? I guess we all see who wears the pants in your house.

17's do raise the car. My only defense is that because i used to have 14-15-16- and 17's and all i knew was that the larger the tires got... the less i scraped my exhaust piping on my schools speedbumps

To prove my point, because you ARE the asshat of the year here on Honda-Tech, here are 2 pics. Tell me which one looks taller and has more ground clearance than a Dodge Ram on 44s.
17s:
15s:
BOTH on stock suspension. Sorry Nico, had to steel your white hatch to put this fool in his place.
Which one looks cleaner? 17s or 15s?
17s:
15s:
DEFINITELY the 15s on the EG platform. Anything more than 16" looks as if I were to bolt up 24" spInNaZ to my toaster in reference to the size of the car and the size of the rims.

But there's a difference between being dropped and not being dropped. Some can get away with being dropped on 17s...you'll be rubbing a lot. But with stock suspension...oh god.
