catback installed but rattle heatshield...help!
i just installed a catback for my 2k GSR but after the installation, i notice there are loud rattles coming from the exhaust heatshield because they are too close. I was planning to remove the heatshield off but someone told me that the piping is also too close to the gas tank and its not a wise thing remove the heatshield. i just want some input on this and for your info, its a stainless steel catback.
Do not remove the heatshield.
Mine rattled and i used these metal straps from home depot to tie down the shield. No more noise.

On mine there was a bolt that held the heat shield on that was rubbing. I took one bolt out and beat the shield up with a rubber mallet. It is quiet now.
Re: the exhaust being too close to the gas tank -- I bet about 8000 people on here have removed their heat shields and have had no problem - me being one of them.
I dont think anyone has blown up yet because of this...I guess better safe than sorry.

just want to let you guys know, i fix the prob. i end up cutting the b-pipe down by an inch, shifting the pipe away from the gas tank by an inch. i also bang the crap out of the heatshield. now, the only time i hear rattle is going through pot holes and bumpy roads.
