Default pick a shift light for me

ok, it's been 2 month since i 1st started dring a stick and was thinking a shift light (without tacometer) would help me save gas or remind me to shift if ever distracted. i see a lot of them on ebay ranging from 20~30 and i am wondering what brand is a decent one?

the autometer pen light one, whatever you call that small one. There is some other JDM company that makes one, but its closer to $80. It's too late for me to think now I'll see if I can find out what company makes it...

EDIT: corrected my 3am drunken spelling

....and if you're worried about gas, don't shift past 4-5k to much.

right now I shift by looking at the RPM, I try to shift at 2.5k rpm and 3k rpm during uphill, or gaining speed on freeway. Just trying to prevent accidents but I guess I ought to learn properly.

Why? Because people on this board dont agree with you? If you want a shift light, get a shift light. There are plenty of lights, thatn can be mounted plenty of places in the car that you dont have to be looking directly at to see. You will notice it fine if you are looking straight ahead and it lights up out of your line of sight. Dont change what you want/think just because a couple of people on this board dont agree with you.

If you want a shift light, I'd suggest mounting it in an A/C vent. That way it's hidden but you can still easily see it.
