Default ??? on lsvtec setup

my brother is gonna put together a lsvtec which will consist of b18a block and a built gsr head... the motor is going to be boosted... my question is that do we have to use the gsr crank, rods and pistons for this setup or do we have to use the ls's... his b18c shortblock already has crower rods and 9:1 je pistons thats why we were thinking of using the gsr internals.... which headbolts do we need to use? please help... replies are much appreciated... thanks

Use GSR headbolts(ARP).

Sorry.... this is for you:

The whole point of an LSVT setup is to get the LS crank and rods to increase your displacement !

If you swap GSR internals to an LS block, you will have a crappy GSR.

The gsr block itself is far superior to the LS block, pound for pound... the 'magic' of an LSVT is that the LS block has a diff rod stroke ratio due to the crank/pistons, but the GSR block has slightly less displacement (slight), BUT it also has piston squirters and a crank girdle, which the LS does not.

Y'all are doing an LSVT and don't know this already ?

Stay GSR...don't waste your money.

gotta agree with X2 100%. It sounds like you are going on what people have said. You don't seem to realize all the points he made above. If you put the gsr internals in the LS, then you are just wasting money. That's it, you should do a little more homework on the subject. I suggest you save your money and put it towards something else. Seems you already have a semi built motor, for the money you were gonna waste on doing this, you can be pretty fast.
