ok first of all i dont think my oils been changed in a while i just got the car though and at first it was fine after getting use to manual transmisions and the ocasional miss shifts my car tends to grind in third gear? this is weird because it only does it after 3000 rpms and up ? it takes it in fine and all the other gears are good just grinds 3rd ? can some one help? a friend tells me a sinchro ? if any one knows can u please state the prob and maybe an estimate cuz i know sinchros r a bitch to fix and are very expensive thanks in advance .

 

synchro problem prolly. rebuild will fix it but you can also try new tranny fluid. usually a temp fix.

 

so first change the fluid and if that doesnt do the trick then rebuild or get a new tranny ? or change out the sinchro

 

Honda trannys are not for everyone. Make sure you have someone who know what they are doing to do your rebuild.

 

i think its your synchro too.

i also agree with 97hb. the synchro kits i've seen per gear is around $100. the big thing is getting to that synchro just so you can change it out. if you plan on dropping your tranny and taking it apart yourself, make sure to get a manual.

3rd gear synchro...notorious for honda trannys, i had the same problem, it will only get worse ovetr time.....

You can buy a syncro set at the dealer. Sucks that you bought a car in that condition.
