Between these two alarms . . . .
I see that the main consensus is that the two best alarms are the Clifford Avant Guard 4, and the Compustar SS. Which should I get? Price is not an issue . . . so what would you all recommend?
The Clifford Avantguard 4 has more security features but doesn't have a pager like the Compustar. The Clifford is more expensive. If you want a Clifford Avantguard 4 with a pager, get the DEI 795W add-on pager with the alarm. The DEI pager just beeps or vibrates when the alarm goes off while the Compustar has a screen letting you know specifically what triggered the alarm.
Then it sounds like I would rather have the compustar right?
I just want the best alarm available . . . . also which has a louder siren?
Thanks for all the replies

The one that is better for you depends on your priorities. Do you want more security features or a more complete paging system? I am going to get a Clifford Intelliguard 9000 (pretty much the same thing as Avantguard 4 w/o remote start) installed this Friday because it has more security features than any other system. The Clifford doesn't have a pager, and I want a pager, so I'm getting an add-on DEI pager. The Compustar alarm as a whole is less expensive and isn't as good as the Clifford Avantguard 4, but it comes with a pager that tells you what sensors were violated.

The Clifford Avantguard 4 is a high end system. The Compustar is a middle end system. Clifford also makes a system comparable to the Compustar called the Matrix RS3, which comes with a fully functional pager. The Matrix RS3 doesn't have as many security features as the Avantguard 4, but it does have a fully functional pager, which the Avantguard 4 doesn't have.
The Clifford Avantguard 4 has a siren called SmartSiren4, which can serve as a back-up siren if the battery is disconnected. The guy at the shop says that it's pretty loud.
If money is no object, the Clifford Avantguard 4 is the ultimate alarm. If you want a pager with it, get an add-on pager. But, be prepared to spend somewhere near $1000 installed.
Be sure to find a good shop to install the alarm. As everybody here says, it's all in the install. A low end alarm that was installed well is better than a high end alarm that was not installed with care.

Clifford is definetely the way to go feature wise. The only thing you have to consider is that they have been bought out by DEI (viper, sidewinder, etc..). We do have alot of trouble getting the right remotes and accessories at our shop when we send back units. If they are installed right, and you have a good sense of how everything works, they are the best for the money.
I can't stand the DEI add on pagers. Every time we've installed one, or any of my freinds have had one, they've ended up with problems....just my opinion.....
If you want a decent alarm for the money, the viper 790 will do just about anything you want, plus it has the LCD remote/pager. It will cost alot less too, and anything you wouldn't get with the viper that the Clifford has, you can pretty much add it on with extra modules......

Clifford RS3=Viper 790XV=Python 880XP
All of these are identical. They are just rebadged for marketing purposes.

If you want louder sound add an interior siren or two and u can do the same I believe under the hood add on an extra.I have an interior one thats loud as well you know.
Well, the only thing I can say is that I've had alot of people complain because they're pager didn't go off when the alarm was set off. The car comes back and from an installation standpoint, everything was fine. They just seemed to be inconsistent. I never owned one myself, so I can't say that these people just didn't know how to use them.......
