I just put a chipped p28 in my car, and it seems that my valve train is a little more noisy at idle. The noise goes away as i rev higher though. Compression is around 11.5:01 and i run pump 91 gas. Could it just be that i need to get my car tuned and get a valve adjustment?

 

detonation sounds like pinging , run higher octane 91 sux and get that baby tuned , ignition timing could be to far advanced

 

91 is the highest available in california. So detonation would sound like "ping-ing" as you would pronounce it?

 

that sux we got some places that sell 100 octane @ the pump and sunoco 94 , pinging u will know it when u hear it

you wouldnt hear detonation at idle... but in any case, detonation sounds like the older diesel VWs and Benz..... if you hear a tapping at iddle its probably ur valves

when does you actually hear this noise? at idle or randomly....i just recently boosted my 00 integra ls with the greddy kit and im using the blue box and randomly ill hear this vibrating noise every so often at different times...any help would be appreciated...also how could i fix this?

 

also im using stock plugs (on 6.5 psi )as well could this be a reason????

 

to me it sounds like a hand full of ball bearings dropped into a coffee can

 

And detonation only occurs when NOT at idle right?
