Default Anyone have a Spoon header?

Does anyone have a spoon header on there car? With a high cat or test pipe? Did you feel a big difference after putting it on. And which part of the powerband did feel a difference in. I'm just curious cause I have one coming in soon and want to know what to expect when I throw it on.
I'm going to run a apex n1 with the header along with the AEM cai I have already. Please provide some input. Thanks

Actually I've used the search function many times while trying to get all the info I could on various header results. The fact is most header threads here have been fairly useless and haven't delivered many facts.

I believe it is this single reason that the topic comes up again and again. Also, data changes as people try new things and new products become available.

My point, while I agree that doing a search is something everyone should do I don't think it is fair to discard any question that you might feel has been covered before. Look for yourself and you might find that there are still questions to be answered.

To date the only consistent results that have been published on this forum on the spoon header is that it improves the mid-range power significantly (better then any header that has come before it) and still breathes well up high. I have yet to see any serious effort to test this header side by side to see how it actually compares.

Having installed one of these headers on my car and running it for a couple weeks I can confirm all the opinions expressed so far. The midrange gains are truly impressive, and the engine pulls and pulls right to red line. Results will vary car to car but in a nutshell this is what you can expect.

Hope this helps, and yes still do a search!

Regards,

Is there any way we can take these topics that come up over and over again, gather the useful information in all the various hundreds of threads, and write a FAQ that can be hosted here on H-T?

What would be a good start to a list of possible FAQ topics?
- Headers
- Newbie Questions
- Synthetic Oil vs. Dino Oil

This would be a great idea!

Yes see below for what was done!

All in good time... I do plan on getting the car on a dyno but I'm waiting to put in a VAFC so that I can make the time more productive.

This is what I've done to my engine to date:
- Spoon 4-2-1 header
- Dynomax 2-1/2" cat
- 1st restriction in stock B-pipe removed
- K&N RU2710 filter on stock intake system
- Timing set to 18deg (very noticeable gains with this setup)

The only meaningful test that I have done with this setup up was a second gear pull against my friends R. From 2000RPM I immediately started pulling away from him and ended up ~4 car lengths ahead of him when I hit fuel cut-off. From 3000RPM I only managed about ~2 car lengths. The stock Rs bogging from down low really hurt him!

Hope this helps,
