I wouldn't go to any of the places in Queens or lower NY for that matter. Although they build fast cars, if your not on your toes they will steal the shirt off your back. Way too many shady people around there
4drgsr has a good point and most people will tell you that. I would plan out the job yourself and source the parts yourself. Shoot do it yourself if you can. The biggest herdle for me is not having a shop with tools. I don't trust anyone and neither should you. Shops will do what they want even when you give them all of the plans and supplies.
DIY. That way when something goes wrong at least you did it and you will fix it the right way. I don't think you will run to duct tape as quick as some of these mechanics do.

Good places are hard to find. I live in central NY, and the Sport Compact Scene is considered a real joke. You can find a lot of places for classic cars, but not anything else. I haven't heard of anything good or bad of Impact Parts, but they are down in Glen Wild, NY ( http://www.impact parts.com )
I wouldn't trust any of those stores working on my car...IMHO they are runned by young morons...if you are not too far away from Philidelphia...I heard there are some good stores around there...
But if it is just getting ready/prepped for AutoX...working with your suspension...maybe a Honda dealership would do with the alignments and all...

they are right off of the cross island... u get off at jamaica ave. go west... go about 1.5 miles... then there is queens village train station (i think) on your left... make a left directly after it (there is a light before the train station that goes under a bridge (then end of the station)... then there is another light... after that one... make a left... then make your first right... and its the corner store there... u cant miss it
