Default D16A6 Vs. D16Z6 bottom end

Ok, i have a question about the bottom ends of the D16a6 and D16z6. I have both complete engines. I was wondering which is a better bottom end? I plan on building a motor for my CRX. Obviously I'm going to us the Z6 head, just wanted to know which bottom end you guys think that I should use.
Thanks in advance.

i think the main difference is the pistons.

i havent investigated this so its basically here-say, but i have heard it before… vtec blocks have better webbing cast into them. so i say go with the Z6 block, there migth be a difference in the oil jet in the block that feeds the head.

i believe pistons are only difference as well. going na? use d16a1 pistons w/ either rod. 11.2:1 c/r aparently.

i would say the z6 prolly has a better bottom end because it can rev higher and has been built for the vtec. so yeah i agree with turbosol also.

NOPe! the D16a6 block is stronger just ask Wil @ exospeed... he's a true D16 harcore fan. Also the D16a6's block guirdle is much stronger for higher reving.

after looking at pics of teh a6 girdle in my manual it looks like the mains are seperate from the actual conectign piece, unlike the z6 girdle which is one piece. is that true? if so i would think that one piece would be better than 6.

I would get a Z6 block. Simply because it is newer, and it comes from an engine that is meant to rev past 7000 rpm stock.

a6 goes upto 7200 stock and valve float is at 7500, i'd ditch the rod bolts and pick the one thats cheaper. or in better condition

who cares really yo, D16 is still a 1.6 unless you do some really craxy mods to it, your performance should be very different at all.

not really

i have taken my Z6 apart for rebuild... and while i was at it i came across some few parts from a A6...
sorry i dont have pics, but the rods on the Z6 are more ticker than the A6 ones.. also the pistons are differecnt, bc of having the indents for the valves while on VTEC... the crank aparently its the same, but the block its quite a lil bit more stronger on the Z6 since i can hold more high rpms than a A6....

This is why I like the A6 better.
