i sold one for 325 minus the dist. and throttle body. so 400-500 complete sounds about right.
edit: if you look around, you can find long blocks for 500

thanks for all the replies.. I'll check out hmotorsonline.com.. Any of you know if someone on here is selling one right now?
hmotorsonline.com sells b16 longblocks for like $450, i dont udnerstand why people pay so much for just the head?
i agree with the paying too much part. i can get a jdm b16a longblock for 500 bucks. i would pay no more than 300 bucks for it...otherwise, i would just buy a whole engine.
Sorry for the retarded question, but what all does a longblock need to be a complete engine? And would it be worth it to buy one and slowly build it to complete?
a long block doesn't come w/tranny, ecu and axles and most likely no wire harness, just a complete engine.
A "long block" is the just basic engine without bolt on items. This means that the intake, distributor, alternator, etc. are NOT part of a long block.
A "complete" engine is with all that stuff attached. No wiring and normally no ECU.
A "conversion" kit would be with transmission, axles, ECU etc.
Of course somebody else may have a different feeling about what qualifies and as such, if buying something it's up to you to make it real clear what you think the term means!!!!!!
