pics of Catz H1 5500K HIDs from Visualdynamics installed (not 56k friendly)
I’ve done a lot of research for hids and am certain that these have to be the highest quality retrofit kits there are on the market. I decided to go to the only place that carries these in Canada- Visualdynamics.ca rather than go through the hastle of buying them from a place in the US(ie: duty and taxes are a bitch). The Catz kit uses Matsushitsa ballasts and GE bulbs (both of which are DOT approved and used in OEM Japanese automotive HID xenon applications) I was very impressed with the overall package of the kit. It came with everything…OE style weather resistant connectors, precisely manufactured rebased bulbs, in-line fuses etc… And for those of you who have the xenon depot kit and have had problems with the spring clip, which I previously had and ruined my stock clip by bending it to secure the bulb, visualdynamics came up with a very easy, effective solution to this issue. Even easier and more effective than cutting out a sheet metal security template.

Pic of the custom moisture boot that comes with the kit. This totally seals up the back of the headlamp dust cover preventing any moisture from entering the headlamp (my prior xenon depot kit did not come with this).

Darryl Mussashi,
I apologize for the disappointing experience you had with XenonDepot. To be completely honest with you however I am a little concerned with what you had to say based on several factors:
1) We have never sold a kit to anyone name Darryl Mussashi
2) The XenonDepot kit comes (and always has) with the rubber grommet that you claim you did not receive with our product.
3) The XenonDepot H1 conversion kit is a univeral H1 kit. The RSX requires a special adaptor as mentioned on our website application guide. In no way do we recommend bending the stock metal clip. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the design of RSX headlight, the stock halogen bulb plugs into whats called an "X-clip." When installing HIDs, the HID bulbs will not plug into the "X-clip." This creates an issue as the stock metal clip is designed to close on both the bulb + "X-clip".

I have seen several solutions to making sure you get proper fitment:
1) Dremelling out the stock "X-clip" and running the HID bulb wires through it so that the HID bulb can be mounted within the "X-clip." This is the best solution I have seen.
2) We also have found that some of our customers have made little adaptors that hold the bulbs securely in place out of aluminum flashing:
In NO WAY do we encourage you to bend your stock OEM Clip.
Once again, I normally do not bring myself to respond to these threads as I enjoy a competitive playing field however one thing that truly bothers me is SLANDER
Regards,
Steve

Those are nice pictures. Although it looks a bit higher than 5500K. Can you show us some pics of the cutoff. Most of the time HID's are rated on how close they look to stock cars, like beemers. Light up a wall and take a picture of it so we can see.
I am surprised that you had problems with the Xenondepot kit. I have sold only a few RSX kits (6-8, dont remember) but I have never had to deal with the problem you mentioned about bending the clip. The kits have been plug and play and when there was a problem (something me or my customers that did the install themselves) the xenondepot people were very helpful.
I am not replying to say that the Catz kit is not as good as the xenondepot kit or that the xenondepot kit is better, since I have not used or sold a Catz kit and therefore cannot pass judgement on it. But are you sure that your problems with the xenondepot kit were not from the person who did the install? if they did not understand the instructions they could have called or emailed the xenon guys for help.

I could have sworn Trevor had people post about how Catz kits werent up to the level of quality as his "Philips" kits back when I had a group buy on Catz... all of a sudden he carries Catz and now says they are the best. Go figure.

I apologize, I should clear up some things first.
The kit that I bought previously was used and was claimed to have been from Xenondepot. I had nothing but problems getting it installed, yes I bent my stock clips trying to hold it in place and ended up purchasing a whole new head lamp system.
There was no intention of Slandering your kits as I have not bought them from you directly, so I cannot say for sure.

were the Catz bulbs colored or clear, just curious - Greg
EDIT: sorry...catz capsules tinted for the 5500k but not the 6000k - i'm scratchin' my head...never ran into anyone who says HID capsules & not HID bulbs
anyways...why bother having to tint an HID "capsule" thats just going to decrease your light output...right?

Catz CAPSULES (HID's dont use bulbs; no filament
) are clear in 4500K and 6000K and tinted for 5500K.

Slander shmander, everyone knows what he meant. All bulbs besides 4500k & 6000k are tinted? I didn't know that. So that means 5000k bulbs have a colored coating?
