Just installed AEM Cold Air Intake, wierd sounds
I just put my AEM cold air intake in, I had a couple problems, but I got it in good. Now when the throttle is at a certain position, there is a squeeking sound that comes out of the engine, If i hold the throttle at this position, itl squeek on and on, anyone know what this is??
Yah, get used to that. the only sound i would worry about is a knocking noise. That would come from the intake hitting the hole it slides in down near the bumper. enjoy
hey
does the squeaking happend when youre on the throttle at a constant pressure or when youre on and off the throttle? what car is this on anyways? im guessing a civic or del sol, im not sure about those car, but when i installed my friends intake on a prelude i had to cut a hole near the fender to allow the pipe to go down pass the, i dont no what its called, but i also placed a gromet so the sharp edges of the part i cut wont rub on the intake piping and mess it up, but that rubber gromet rubbed againts the intake and made a squeeking sound, i guess like the one youre hearing. its jus rubber rubbing on the metal part of the intake which is nothing wrong. that was the case in my friends prelude ( 2000 ) im not sure about youre car. give me more info about the sound and tell me if it may be rubbing on something....

It is normal for you to hear more sounds than normal. Manufacturers build their intakes to make the engine more quiet. The sound deadening kills some of the power so you are trading power for comfort. It seems to be worth it.
YUP THAT KNOCKING NOISE IS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT. BECAUSE A BUDDY OF MINE HAS NOW A BIG GASH IN HIS. GET AN INTAKE COUPLER AND WRAP IT AROUND AND SECURE IT WITH A HOSE CLAMP. THAT WORKS ****!!!
