what do u guys use to paint the interior plastic on your car? I've seen spray paint used but just wanted to know if there was any other methods or products worth using. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

i totally agree. i can speak from experience, the person I bought my car from had already painted my interior. it cracks and flakes all over the place. I try to keep it up by giving it a few new coats, but it is a PITA.
I really wouldn't reccomend it.
if you want to redo your interior, get a professional to fiberglass it.
if you cannot afford that get some books out of the library on fiberglass and try to do it yourself. but don't expect it to work the first time. It will take a couple of trie s prolly.

if i could remeber the stuff i used on the last car i did the interior on i would tell you , that was the best **** i have ever come in contact with. i tested it on a hf crx door panel first and i put one coat on and took a key to it and it idnt chip crack or anything. so i painted the hf panel with 2 more coats to see if more paint made it harder and took a key to it and i scracked the hell out of the panel but the paint stayed like it was original colr of the panel like it dyed it or something. so there is definately paint out there that works really well but ive seen some that chips and looks like ****. like they said theres a right way to do it and a wrong way. basically its all about using the right materials. i'll go see if i have any of that stuff left and give you a part number and what it actually is.
Some of my interior pieces are painted from the previous owner, and I"m not too fond of it. How much would it cost to get the interior fiberglassed? That would probably look so good. Thanks

If you do paint it, dont paint it some gay color like Purple or pink or something
Anyways. When i painted a few things in my car gunmetal, i just sprayed like 2 coats of regular sandable primer you can get at Pepboys, after it dries, if its rough then sand it with a really fine grit sand paper. Make sure if you sand it to clean off all the dust before you put the color coat on it. i just used the a little can of auto spray paint you get at pepboys, its like half the size of regular spray paint bottles. Put about 2 or 3 coats on it n that should be it. If your interior parts are really smoothe, sand it a little with fine grit sand paper before you primer it so itll stick better and not flake. I did mine in september and it hasnt flaked yet
BTW i just painted the plastic on my center console (not the whole damn center console, just the plastic face thats in the middle that goes around the stereo and stuff), my gauge bezels, the borders around my vents, and the plastic thats around the base of the rear view mirror, so i didnt paint the whole friggin interior

It's amazing how many people decide to ruin their interiors by doing this.
yep, I did it before, glad its stock looking now.

The best stuff is what they sell in Year One Restoration. Its spendy but it what old farts use to restore their old camaros and such. I used some suff from shucks on my 2ndgen F body and it flaked on the plastic. I know that testors model paint sticks real well to plastic maybe you should try that if your on a budget
Painting the interior does absolutely nothing for the car at all. But if you are Mexican it's acceptable. lol You might also want to chrome strip the fenderwells for that show look yO.

I'm not sayin I like it either, and luckily not a lot of things were painted, but re-doin them will look a lot better then havin it flake all over the place. Does anyone know what fiberglassing would cost, I know it's expensive, ballpark figure? thanks again for all the help guys.
