and in your opinion does this make sense and should this work? Or is it a hoax and harmful to the engine?
Also for myself... what are the parts I should cover up while I do this? and what works best to cover them with? Also this engine cleaner stuff they speak of... where can i get this?
Thanks for the help

that's what the dealerships do, mostly used car dealerships. that's similar to what i do and mine is blingin
When I go to manufacturer car shows all the engines are GREASY as hell! Even though most arent even popped, me and my friend look at every one and they all seem to have the same greasy yet clean look to them. It must be something like that tire foaming crap.
Ive got an engine to spare, and the armorall stuff downstairs, I'll give it a try.

Yes, it should work.. But the stuff that they use to make is shiny it a white color liquid that you can pick it up from any detailing shop. What you wanna cover would be your cap, and any electrical items.
I clean my motor with the same methods but not with the tire foam. The spray would be a white liquid that is very thick then you mix it with water.

I spray simple green automotive cleaner on...drive it to the car wash. Pressure wash it and then it looks like that. Simple green is good stuff.

I've done it myself. You need to be sure to cover your electrical components. Water is a nono on those parts.
Lots of companies make cleaners for engine bays.
Mine looked clean enough to eat off of.

read the instructions on the spray can, they probably say to cover the electrical components, distributor, alternator, etc. You want't your car to start afterwards!
since this topic has a couple different cleaning tips in it... i thought i'd add another one.
for cleaning your block, head, intake manifold etc... i use Eagle One Never-Dull. i usually use it for polishing my exhaust, but my dad told me that he used to use it when he cleaned his motorcycle engines so i tried it and it worked pretty damn good.

on the left is where i used the Never Dull and on the right is what it all looked like before. it's a good idea to keep a damp rag around to wipe off the residue that it leaves behind. (ignore the duct tape, that's just temporary until i decide whether to keep the a/c or not)

just to do the block and head it took a lot of wadding...

for cleaning everything else, i use Simple Green and water.

i'm gonna try that Gunk engine cleaner stuff next... it looks like it really works well.

only things i cover are
1.distrubitor
2.siren for my alarm
people say to cover the spark plugs but it should be sealed shut anyway, sombody cover the alternator but if a little water wasnt susspose to get in their alertnators would alerday be sealed when you bought them eh
ive deatiled my crx engine twice and no problems, i use a product called gunk engine cleaner, a scrub brush, and if you wanna a little brake fluid on the plastic parts for shine
