Default mileage problem

okay.. i don't know what can cause this kind of malfunction on a vehicle.. but i think my ODOmeter or whatever sensor is having problems. i'm just upset that i caught it this late.

i drove 40 miles. but the ODOmeter says i drove 50. i'm running 205/50/15 on the rear, and stock size on the front, i'm just running that until my fronts are gone, then running the same size on all four corners. but even with different tire sizes, it shouldn't make that big of a difference. i've had the car for about one year one month, and i've managed to put 16k on it.. i honestly can say that i don't think i drive THAT much..

it was just recently when i was in santa monica, driving home to my home when i realized that my ODOmeter overshot 10 miles. is there something wrong with my car. is there anything i can specifically ask about when i take it in somewhere?? thanks honda-tech.

i drove 40 miles. but the ODOmeter says i drove 50.
how do you know it was 40 exactly? did you have someone pace you in another car? just trying to help you get to the bottom of this...

I was wondering the same thing...If you followed the street signs that say "its 40 miles to blah blah"...99% of the time those are off several miles...

Stock speedometer is off by several MPH at high speed.

Stock odometer is 99% never off with 195/55/15 sized tires up front.

If you're in doubt, take it to a speedometer service places in your local area. They charge $20 to check your speedometer & odometer. Calibration is on the money in these facilities. And, no, I'm not talking about your local dyno, but a state approved speedo/odo calibration facility.

Are all (front) components stock between your flywheel and tires? E.g., tranny gears, axles, etc.

yessir. everything is stock, except for suspension. wow i'm surprised to be getting responses. but to answer the other question, i did have someone pace me, and i ran a search on two different web map thingy's, and they both came out either 40 or below 40 miles. thanks for the responses, everyone.
