another ice box install and comments.
well i just finished putting my comptech ice box and elbow in yesterday. the install was very easy it was all done in 2 hours. the fit and finish of the ice box is GGGGGGreat!!!! everything fit in fine wiout any problems or hassels.
i will post pics spoon along with dyno plots of before and after.
before th eice box my R seemed like it was beig held back by something...a restriction, something, but after the install of the box...restriction no more!!!!!
the pull from is great, it pulls hard all the way through the power band. unlike the aem where you feel the spike inpowerband the ice box is very smooth and linear. i drove an r with an aem, and then i drove my r with he ice box, and on the butt dyno they both seemed to pull as hard, BUT, the aem did have that sudden spike that just propells you.
the sound is almost like stock. maybe a few db louder but not very. the tone is much deeper.
i went to the dyno last week and got a baseline. the temp inside the shop was about 90-95F. the humidity was maybe close to 90% or more.
WHP SAE corrected:164.2
TQ SAE corrected:116.X
i will post the graphs and pics by the weekend.
IMHO i would recomend the ice box over the aem. you might loose alittle power over the aem, but for quality and ease of use.....just cant be beat!!!
oh, i got the ice box from mike at http://www.ipsracing.com

How is the shitbox easier to use? Last time I checked the intake is a functional peice that is moderated by your FOOT. So your saying that the gas pedal is easier to push now?
Boba- who likes give hell to all that purchase the "shitbox".
i knew you would post something about the ****...oh i mean the ice box. what i mean by easier, is that i can clean and change the filter by just popping the hood up and taking out the filter. lifting the damn hood of the car is the extent of the actual hard work that my fat *** needs to do to change the filter or just to inspect the filter. WHERE AS...
to do anything to the filter for the aecrap you have to jack the damn car up....i have doen it 3 times now for my roomate who has the aecrap on his r.
01r: who is ready to troo down wit bobba, and is really tired of his chit about the ****....i mean ice box

Thats funny that you wanna throw down with the Boba.
Bring it on. As for cleaning the AEM, I can take the filter off the car without jacking the car up. Maybe its because Boba is not a FAT-***.
Boba- who likes to laugh and joke, but if your serious bring it on.

settle down boys...we all know that in Boba's far-away galaxy, they don't have rain, so his AEM suits him just fine. 01R, welcome to the ranks of the Shitbox owners. Just for fun, try taking off the cover of the Icebox sometimes. it takes away all the power but it makes it sound real nice
BTW looking forward to the dyno plots.

ok fine if you say you can get the filter out without jacking up the car, what about all the rubbing that is going on....sometimes i think i need to get out the sensual rubbing oil out everytime i work on my friends car....

Just put my AEM on last night. Though I've never driven my R with a shitbox, I believe I would prefer the AEM from the posts I've read.

Boba,
The AEM gives the most bang for the buck, I'll grant you that. However, it is just a filter on a stick, not intake nirvana
When I get around to dynoing my Si, we'll see how the ARC stacks up against your beloved AEM.
The Icebox may not have the outright power gains over the AEM, but it's a nice tradeoff between performance, aesthestics and build quality.
Kengs - who thinks Boba-Fett should actually try some of the other intakes before knocking them

jl74 The Comptech ice boxes are the same for the gsr,ls,rs,se,@type r. The bello is not used if you are using your stock intake pipng off the factory airbox.
Yeah!!! You tell'em!

Tried the Shitbox, didnt like it. Had a DC (filter on a stick), didnt like. Have the AEM and it gave me the best dyno results over the other three. Also I dont have any problems with my A/C lines rubbing,(must be my engineering expertise).
Boba-who cant talk **** about any intake, cuz until I see a CAI that out performs my AEM, then the others are all SHITBOXES!
