Default 2004 Civic Type R

I was reading Car & Driver and they say that there is a possiblity that the Civic Type R is coming out for 2004. They were also estimating that the HP would be around 190-195. Has anybody heard anything else about this??

Jeez, when will people learn that it is not coming over here. Why the hell would they bring it here if the Si is barely selling as it is?? The only reason the ITR was brought over here was because the regular Integras were selling like crazy and there was no competition in their class for the ITR.

Dumbest post ever. A CTR in the states would boost the sales of Civics across the board.

The DC2 ITR came over not because "there was no competition in their class for the ITR" - they came over for homologation purposes so Honda could race the damn thing. It's pretty much a well-known fact that Honda did not make any money on the ITR.

So why exactly should I take your word for it? What authority do you have to proclaim that the new CTR will not come?

If the CTR does come over, they will need to lower the price of the Si and make the Type R about the price that the Si is now. I don't think anyone will want to pay 25k for a Civic. Maybe the public will prove me wrong. I would love if they brought it over, it would be a fun little car to drive. I would consider getting a used one as a second car, after the S2000 is purchased.

i ´dont think they can make The cTR cost as much as the si now.. its too expensive to build anyways i got one. butr they are made in the same factory in england... thing is again the engine needs to be redone.. because thats why tere are EDM and JDM versions. cause of gas quality and germany has 98 and JDM land has 101 one of the reason so many JDM cars dont make their way to US market ( such as sylvias) i have a friend who lives in malysia and he contacted honda in japan why they dont have the CTR, honda asks what gas quality you got he said i think 98 or 92 and honda said NOOO!!!! they are eral pissy on long life cars

A CTR in the U.S.....don't be rediculous.
when will people get it thru their minds that the CTR is not coming to America? since when did bullshit writers for Motor Trend or Car and Driver turn into Honda spokespersons? ****, this topic belongs on MTV's "big urban myth" show already

The CTR will be coming right after the ITR, which will be coming right after the FPP ITS(RSX-S) The FPP(factory performance package) was suppose to be out about a year and a half ago...quoted from Acura and I still have to see it.

Thank you Sleepin...finally someone agree's. I guess where Ross lives, Si's are selling like wildfire. The only way the Type-R would compete would be to make it around 20k. You could not price it in the 25-30k class because the competition there is way too strong. Please Ross, name me some competition the ITR had when it came over here? Exactly, none. And Honda made no money off of it? You can barely find one anymore and thats not just because they are a stolen commodity. There are still 02 Si's at dealerships and the 2004 car line is almost here! I'm thats going to convince Honda to bring over the Type-R for about 5-6k more than the Si. And I'm not saying that you have to listen to me, but its pretty damn obvious.

Wishful thinking to get it at the Si's current price. I just purchased a brand new Integra Type R and the Civic Type R was only $400 cheaper. You can get it without A/C, HID, tinted windows, rear wiper and stereo for $3000 less. The problem is you can't get these individually, they come as a package. The Japanese price starts at 2,200,000 yen. Add on the C package, tax and everything and it comes out to 2,900,000 yen. The Integra is only 2,950,000 total. And the Integra is 40kg lighter and has 5 more ps than the Civic. So you can see why I got the Integra. Plus I like the look of the Integra better.

why doesn't someone just email motor trend and find out where they got their info. They also said it would be under 20,000. I guess time will tell.

The REAL reason Japan won't send alot of their "nicer" cars over here is because of one reason. RICERS. Think about it. They send us the CTR and some stupid kid buys it..

1. Puts those damn windshield led wiper thingy on it
2. Puts lots of "TYPE R" stickers on it
3. Underbody Glow kit
4. Fast BLinkers aka Seizure turn signals
5.

Well I could go on and on about the list. Imagine you make something really really nice and some fool out there...Here... in the US rices it out.

Thats the real reason we don't get nice cars.

I really doubt the reason why Japan doesn't bring us nice cars is because of people ricing them out. Once the car is sold, its sold. They make their money and thats all that matters.

Honda CEO sitting in office: "Those damn ricer kids keep buying our cars and making them look like crap." "We will give them the crap Hondas from now on." "Muhahahaha" he says in an evil sort of way.

First off, it was a joke. You silly peoples. I'm glad it got to SOMEONEONE. Anyways if you really want one just get a RHD CTR and get it registered here as a Show car. Who cares if you drive it to work.

Obviously no one in this forum has the right to say that the CTR is coming or not. Personally, I think it isnt because that would put it in the same performance range, if not better, than the RSX-S, which would hurt Acura sales. Si's HAVENT been seeling well, that is why they said they are gonna bring the CTR (says the magazine). The CTR WILL be very over priced...prolly looking 25+ for a hatchback. If they DO bring it over...they are gonna find their sales woes for the hatchback civics will only get worse.

And yes, the FPP RSXS has been out quit a while ago.

No..no.. that wasnt a joke, that WAS a dumb comment.
Plus, who would get a CTR and then not be able to drive it on public roads?
