I just got my car back, after getting an engine rebuild and new CM Stage 1 clutch. Noticed a few problems after I got home.

1. I have trouble keeping the car in 3rd and 5th. If i shift into either gear, and releast the clutch, it'll "pop" out into neutral. If I hold it forward ( I know, not good at all), then it stays, but once I let go, it pops out again.

2. My gear positioning is kinda off now. 1st is a bit farther up, and 2nd is pretty much where neutral use to be, and everything seems shifted to the left just a bit.

Are all these problems related to shift linkage, or is it something else? This is happening on a '91 Honda CRX Si, if that helps.

Do you have tranny fluid in there? My brother had the same problem one time and the tranny had very little fluid. We re-filled it and it worked. Also did you install the shifter backwards when re-installing the shift linkage? It sounds like it may be backwards.

 

It could possibly be the shift linkage. That happened to my friend too (except he had a B16) and he eventually discovered a screw somewhere along his shift linkage was loose or missing (i forgot which). So check the shift linkage n all its connected to to see if everythings good

 

if they never opened up the tranny, it's either shift linkage or a bad engine mount. they could've messed up an engine mount when they were putting the engine back in.
