my CRX is already gutted out, and i think this weekend, i'll be tackeling the task of taking the dash out, and removing the non functional blower, and heater core.. (track car), and then moving on to the engine, and stripping that down..
how hard to you think stripping the engine bay down to nothing is? i mean, master cyl, and booster, all wires, fuse box.. everything down to brake lines, and rack and pinion.. comepletly stripped for paint. it should look bomb when im done.

i was planning on leaving the rack and pinion.. that way i would be able to push it around, and stuff.. and yeah.. leaving the brake lines.. lol, i don't even wanna try and manuvure those around... if i can rebuild a b16, and make it reliable.. i think i could strip down a car for paint.. i was just lookin for advise.. points of interest.. besides, i need all new wirring.. ECU to engine, and engine harrness. all new.. sorta got hot.. lol, a little fire..

you will end up with a shiatload of small parts/bolts when you are done stripping the engine bay down, so you might want to find some cheapo tupperware type bowl with lids and use them for organizing the parts/bolts (someone on h-t mentioned using them, so give them the credit for that idea).

ok guys, thanks for the advise..
i got something to share with ya guys though.. lol
the main reason for the paint job, was a mistake.. it caught on fire.. lol, my baby.. my EF8 conversion.. up in flames..
to make a long story short.. i ran 12's at the track.. and well, after my run.. on the way back.. actually when you make a U turn, is when it all went down.. here's the basics.. and this is what i could figure..
finished my pass, on the way back.. after my run the N20 solinoid froze open, and bypassed nitrous.. not full bore.. but enough... so im running supper lean.. low RPM.. so i give it gas.. as soon as the butterfly on the throttle body opened... kaboooom! up in flames.. the nitrous, and the vapors in the manifold ignited wihtout a spark.. crazy ****... ive seen it happen on EG's, but never a ED/EF.. and of course, since the battery is right next to the airbox.. it catches fire.. big time dramma.. so im gunna paint it, and come out all show..
check it out.. the mayhem..
*used* to be the cleanest setup in a ED around...
so here i am.. this is how far i got.. what do you guys thing.. tomorrow.. or sometime this week, i'll get the dash out, and pull the blower motor, heater core.. MC and booster.. and all those cables.. i just didnt really feel like getting under that dash.. ide rather pull it out.
let me know what you guys think.. and yes.. it will be a 12 second honda again.. lol it will it tell you!

your link was dead.. and yes, i know what a painted engine bay looks like... lol, i was just looking for sympothy.. lol, and alittle advise..
Damn dude...sorry about the car. Im a little cunfused as to why your car blew. I dont understand how it ignited without a flame. And it wasnt the the gas vapors and the n20 that blew...it was just the gas vapors. N20 itself is NOT flammable. It only makes power by cooling the air to freezing temps and forcing it into your clylinders. What shot were you using when you ran the 12's? Good luck on the painting.

sorry about your car, hope it looks better than before with the new paint job. did you happen to have, a small fire extinguisher in the car when this happened? i'm thinking of getting one foe my car!
Here is some before and after of my CRX.
Stripping it was the easy part. puting it back together was more time consuming.

ok guys.. this is the culpret.. this is where all my problems started.. lol, take a look.
this is all i can figure... there's 3 elements to fire.. fuel, oxegyn, and spark.
when i finished my run, the bottle frozen the sol. open.. when gave it gas.. the butterfly at the manifold, the nitrous, and the vapors in the manifold mixed, and the manifold was hot enough to spark it, and make the combustion..
but thanks for the advise guys.. i'll be at it.. i give it 1 year.. then im coming out all show.

doesn't smell at all inside anymore.. but when i left it in the shop.. smelled like those malibu fires a few years back.. lol, but now that ive got rid of most of the charcol lol, its not to bad..
the motor, thats another story.. im sure its fine.. but im not certin.. however, when i pulled my motor, i noticed the throttle body was done.. heh, the butterfly was like melted into a U.. it was bent back from the explosion.. its got REALLY HOT.
i haven't got it on the stand, and done a leak down compression, but i will soon.. its fully built, and im sure if it can take a 100 shot, it could withstand that blast.. best valves money can buy.. we'll see.
i was using some older NOS solinoids, so i might get the new NX ones, since they are bigger and more powerful, and go legit.. no hidding N20.. lol, who cares now.. and i was usuing a TNT fogger.. texas nitrous technoligy.. wiht NX jets.. they offered a bigger shot vrs NOS.. NX's 100 shot, was like a NOS 125... either way, ****** bailed.. just sorta sucked it was after my run.. ide rahter go up in flames 1/2 way down the track.. lol, more "spectacular" lol
oh yeah, and breaka, i plan on going wiht the place racing X member, with mount.. this things going show now.. i'll ever drive it again.. maybe the track 1 more time.. but we'll see.. lol
