As a SM class competitor, with a hybrid and a CF hood, I will confirm this. I will also add that on any level other than local, you should prepare to get owned regularly. Hard to compete with high horsepower turbo rear and all wheel drive vehicles in street mod. I wouldn't have it any other way though, even if it has me kinda stuck in a local non-SCCA rut
I think I will go with some type of forced induction before I try to hit the regional and national SCCA events. It's kind of hard to find your way in SCCA classing when you first start, check the FAQ for more info, and get lots of seat time, as upgrading the driver is the best mod of all.

the hood is just something i had left over from my old car..but thanks for all the info..theres an autox event coming to my city next week..and i just wanted to go and give it a try..
