Bumpstop what does it mean?

Default Bumpstop what does it mean?

For installation of new struts and springs, people keep telling me to cut bump stops
can anybody take a pic and clarify me what to cut

It's this little piece of hard foam that's on the shaft of the shock. It stops the shocks from bottoming out. And on our cars it's usually a dark yellow.

It usually comes with new struts. Cutting it allows more travel in the suspension before bottoming out.

for a crx, the bumpstops are smaller "barrels", whereas later civics and integras have conical donuts that are supposed to offer progressive spring. the later big and bulky bumpstops need to be cut, i dont think the barrel type really need to be cut unless youre slammed or running low ride heights for racing. if i didnt have to, id prefer the whole bumpstop as opposed to just half.
